MELAVITE ThermoSTOP 5%

To prevent secondary fermentation of the feed, organic acids and special preservatives are used.

  • The MELAVITE ThermoSTOP 5% products are suitable for cost-effectively improving the palatability and intake of ruminant feed, while providing energy through the carbohydrate and organic acid content. Their use effectively prevents the post-mixing heating of TMR, which is the temperature rise resulting from distribution and standing.

The addition of a 5% propionic acid-based complex acid blend to MelaVite products (recommended ratio) provides a broader spectrum, safer protection against TMR post-mixing heating. Additionally, alongside the molasses sugar content, the organic acid content serves as an easily utilizable energy source for the animal, which reflects in performance (milk production, weight gain) as well.

  • Containing propionic acid in the highest proportion, along with its ammonium salt, these components provide excellent protection against the growth of mold fungi (Fusarium, Aspergillus, Penicillium), inhibit their metabolic processes, and prevent mycotoxin production.
  • Sorbic acid - combats yeast fungi, primarily responsible for the post-mixing heating of TMR. Sorbic acid is specifically fungicidal, acting against the operation of yeast fungi, widely used as a preservative to inhibit their growth.
  • Other organic acids (acetic acid, citric acid, L-ascorbic acid, benzoic acid)


We conducted experiments demonstrating that when TMR mixed with MelaVite Thermo Stop 5%, the temperature rise of the feed decreased by up to 4°C. With less heat generation, microbial activity within the TMR is also reduced, resulting in less degradation of valuable nutrients in the feed.
